Matt Fiske is known for wheel-thrown and altered porcelain or stoneware work. Typical forms are Sake bottle with cups and teapot with cups on concrete, stone or ceramic under-slab, cups, and bowls. Surface techniques include the use of sandblasting, copper sand, soda firing, and glazes such as celadon. Forms are simple with attention centered on surface treatment. Fiske demonstrates an interest in assemblages of contrasting pristine ceramic objects on under-slab of contrasting finish and material.
