    Catharine Hiersoux is known for wheel-thrown sculptural and functional porcelain. Her dishes often feature incised shapes and slip trailed designs in dark colors on a white porcelain ground.

    Hiersoux was one of thirteen potters commissioned by Rosalyn Carter to make dishes for the 1977 Senate Ladies Luncheon at the White House. Hiersoux?s ?Columns? series (1979), consists of tall thrown porcelain vases with a typical transparent cone 10 glaze is at the Renwick Gallery, Smithsonian American Art Museum.
