Jack Kalestewa is primarily known for The production of thin walled pots made in the Hawikuh Revival tradition. Kalestewa also produces other traditional polychrome works.
The pueblo at Hawikuh was abandoned around 1850. References to the form and decoration of pieces made there are drawn from shreds being retrieved from archeological digs. His wife, Quantina, is also involved in ceramic work.
Kalestewa began his creative work as a jeweler.
