James Robinson collects local clays that he uses to create functional objects and sculptures. The functional pieces are thrown, altered and finished with the addition of clay slabs. The surfaces carry carved and sgraffito images of fish, birds and animals.
Robinson hand builds sculptures that often take the form of animals, the polar bear often appears. The pieces are then given multiple coats of glaze before being fired to cone 10 in a reduction atmosphere.
