    About
    Biography

Jeremy Hatch is known for porcelain sculpture that deals with memory, nostalgia and oftentimes childhood. The artist employs the process of slip casting, taking objects that deal with these themes to make ceramic objects that are assembled into large and small scale installations. Hatch?s goal is to freeze these familiar objects in time. Hatch's work ranges from functional to decorative, architectural to domestic, experimental to traditional.

Hatch stresses the importance of the viewer?s interaction with his ceramic objects, either to stimulate a memory or develop a personal narrative. At times, Hatch invites audience participation, providing plaster molds and liquid clay so the public can try their hand at casting ceramic objects for themselves.

In 2011, Hatch was profiled by the Gardiner Museum in Toronto as an RBC emerging artist nominee. The artist explains his artistic motivations here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gX1ptgWMviY.

In addition to his personal creations, Hatch is the founder of Ricochet Studio Inc. where he and other artists from various disciplines create limited-edition ceramic pieces that span a wide-range of purposes. The studio?s website can be accessed here: http://www.ricochetstudio.com/.
