Leah Balsham

Steven Godfrey is known for wheel-thrown and altered porcelain functional forms which often include hand sculpted porcelain birds as finials on lids. The bird elements are inspired by Native Alaskan artists? ivory bird carvings. Covered boxes and baskets are common forms. Surface techniques include clear or translucent glazes, often celadon.
