Sarah Jaeger | 1949 – Present

Sarah Jaeger is known for functional porcelain ware. The forms are voluminous and suggest capacity. Jaeger?s work is thrown on the potter?s wheel, altered by hand and fired in gas kiln, in either an oxidation or reduction atmosphere, depending on the glaze. The pieces exist in the balance between single color pots that emphasize form, and highly decorated functional objects that rely on saturated colors, repeated patterns and loose designs that complement each form.

In 2007, Jaeger was one of the artist?s profiled in the PBS documentary Craft in America. The Artist?s segment is available at: http://www.craftinamerica.org/shorts/sarah-jaeger-segment/
