Bruce Gholson works in porcelain, stoneware or red clay and is known for a range of functional and decorative ceramics. The surface imagery on his work may have images of reptile skeletons or allover iridescent crystalline glazes. He works with a variety of forming techniques and glazes. The iridescent crystalline glazes he creates have a distinctive luster surface. He shifts back and forth between gas reduction and electric firing depending on the project.
Gholson and his wife, Samantha Henneke, manage and work at Bulldog Pottery, a noted contemporary pottery in Seagrove, North Carolina.
