Ben Owen III

Ben Owen III is known for wheel-thrown stoneware earthenware or porcelain functional pottery meant both for everyday use and cabinet display.

The pottery reflects his interest in traditional North Carolina wares as well as classic Asian vessels forms. He is known for his use of glazes which are aesthetically appropriate to the clay body and enhance the form. At times he fires an entire kiln with all pieces having the same glaze. He has developed unique crystalline matt glazes.
