Bowl

USA, 1900

This is a large 19" diameter bowl. It has a narrow light green foot. The rounded sides of the bowl grow outward creating a sphere that appears to be created from numerous flat sides. It then moves back inward to the square rim. There are a number of glaze runs from the brown rim. Brown runs are on a tan area that has many white pox marks. Other runs are green onto a green ground. The interior is grey green with concentric ridges running horizontally around the walls. There are vertical bands where the clay was carved out.

The view from above shows the brown squared rim of the bowl and some of the glaze runs at the top of the exterior. The interior is blotchy grey, the small flat bottom is very shiny.

A close up shows the concentric horizontal ridges and the carved out vertical bands.

This closeup of the exterior shows a bit of the green glaze on the left then the white pox marked brown area with brown glaze runs. There are 3 lines incised at the base. Part way up there is a horizontal line that appears to be a crack.

The underside is unglazed blotchy tan, brown, and pink. The part of the base of the bowl shown is heavily speckled with white on either a brown on blue green ground.
