David Keatorcreated unique mostly porcelain works; his early work was based on typical traditional vessel forms with intricate inscribed details. The egg and a long necked bird appeared again and again on his pieces. He often raku fired work preferring to do this work alone allowing him total control of the process.
Later, he turned to painting when arthritis made ceramic work difficult. In addition to ceramics and painting, Keator made furniture inspired by Art Deco examples he had seen.
