Matt Long

Matt Long creates a range of functional pieces. He is known for jugs, flasks, whiskey cups, and mugs that reference German salt ware and early American pottery. Long throws porcelain forms that are then dipped in thick slip used to produce the soft rippling surfaces. He fires in a soda atmosphere. Thin layers of flashing slips are used to provide the subtle color on each piece. He works in his studio, Full Victory Pottery, hence the V appears on all his work.
