Nancee Meeker?s bowl and vase forms are thrown using either stoneware or porcelain. Her surfaces were thoroughly burnished using either a stone or a spoon and then carved and etched.
She used images drawn from nature and landscapes she saw while traveling. Throughout her career she used a variety of atmospheric firing techniques including salt, saggar, pit-firing and smoking. The colors and shine on her work are the result of burnished terra sigillata made from clays that she collected around the country and the world.
