Sandy Batton

Sandy Batton and his wife, Margaret Ann, are known for slab built and wheel-thrown functional pottery with a carved allover textured or wax resist repeat geometric patterned surfaces. The slab works are characterized by dramatic bends, curves with button feet (2017). A wide color palette of glazes is used. Surface techniques include sgraffito, carving, incising and wax resist. Work is high fired in an electric kiln.

In 2003, Sandy Batton and his wife, Margaret Ann Batton, founded Batton Clayworks where they produce a line of functional wares.
