Julia Galloway makes utilitarian thrown porcelain vessels that are frequently altered, decorated with painterly motifs and soda fired. Often presented as pairs, some of her forms nest in holders that are hand built using slabs of fire clay. Galloway?s decorative motifs come from the natural world, including clouds of the Montana sky. She draws on art historical references, such as John Audubon's bird paintings and Asian ceramic imagery.
