Gail Kendall hand builds a wide range of functional table ware forms using low fire terra cotta and a majolica-like decorative technique.
Kendall was a resident artist at Spode Fine China Works, Stoke-On-Trent, England.
Her work is influenced by European and Middle Eastern earthenware pottery traditions from the 13th to 18th centuries. Kendall is interested in ceramics created for everyday use as well as by royalty. The surfaces are decorated using the traditional frame and field approach to decorative layout.
