Two Slabs Wall Hanging
Frank Olt is best known for using ceramic panels and techniques using mixed media to create wall hung brightly colored paintings.
Olt?s process begins with glazing a ceramic panel and kiln firing it several times. Once the firing process is complete, Olt covers the surface with linen or burlap, then cuts away the fabric, revealing the glazed surface below. The final process is drawing on the panel with encaustic paints. The drawings can depict lines, abstractions of Japanese calligraphy, and geometric forms.
Olt was a student of the Bauhaus ceramist Rose Krebs.
