Two Stones #6

USA, 1982

Two round volumes side by side. The surfaces are polished to create a very smooth surface. Their main color is tan. There are also random areas of black. Each has a controlled area of white. The shape on the left one comes over the top ending with an arrow pointing downward. The right piece has an amorphous shape the runs down the front. Each has a difficult to see geometric shape rising from the top.

Images of another side show the incised patterns on each piece.

A detail shows the incised chevron patterns confined to just some amorphous areas where the smooth surface has been removed.

There is a small flat area on the underside of each form. They are very shiny with the tan and black areas very visable. The one on the left has a stack of three white stickers. Scripps College and the accession number 90.4.3a typed on it. Christine Lapage '82 is hand written on the middle one. Christine Lapage 1982 is handwritten on the top one. The right piece has two stickers. The bottom one has 90.4.3b typed on it. Christine Lapage 1982 is handwritten on the top one.
