Richard Garriott-Stejskal

Deborah Horrell is known for small-scale porcelain sculptures, functional glass vessels, glass wall pieces, and large installations of ceramic, glass, and wood.

Horrell started strictly as a ceramic artist, and was often inspired by birds, making pieces with flat bird shapes accompanied by a delicate nest sculptures of porcelain.

In 1993 Horrell left a tenured position at The Ohio State University to move to Portland, Oregon to become a full-time studio artist. After residencies at the Pilchuck School of Glass and Bullseye Glass, Horrell started to work primarily in glass, making bowls, vases, wall pieces and more.
