Peter Hamann | 1956 – Present

Peter Hamann is known for finely carved porcelain works. After throwing on a potters wheel, Hamann delicately manipulates and carves each form. Works are often finished with a simple translucent blue celadon glaze which highlights the linear carved surfaces.

Hamann lived in Japan since 1982. His inspiration for his delicate work comes from ?the Japanese Kogei Association, the tea ceremony, and the mountains surrounding [of his] home.?1 Hamann was accepted into the prestigious Japan Art Crafts Association and remains its only Western member.
