Vaughan Smith is best known for functional, wheel-thrown earthen- and stoneware pottery such as plates, mugs, vases and bowls, as well as tiles. Different underglazes, glazes and stencils as well as sgraffito are used to decorate the work. The pieces are fired in an electric or gas kiln. Smith shares a studio with his wife, Jaqueline Cohen. Smith produces the pottery, Cohen decorates. Smith and Vaughn moved to the United States in 1985.
